I’m listening to Robin Trower so that I can embed his sound into my psyche and memory so that I can try and tackle learning his stuff. Easier said than done, it’s kind metal blues-ish. He really loves modulation and getting my pedal failed in the same will be difficult.
The pedal we built is called a Univibe, and Jimi Hendrix made it famous. The original ones are worth many thousands of dollars. This is a very good facsimile. But my skill isn’t there yet.
I think Robin uses a non standard tuning, also. That can really make things harder to learn.
Do you ever listen to songs and wonder how they get those tones? It’s with effects, either rack or floor pedal effects, or studio board level stuff. The Beatles’s engineers were masters at it. Musicians knock their heads out trying to capture these sounds, which is easier said than done.
