Status on pedal build

For those who weren’t in the other site forum: Weeks ago I almost completed a complex pedal build for guitar. The pedal is an advanced univibe (listen to the song Bridge of Sighs by Robin Trower) and is one that I’ve longed for for years. I built it and tested it before stuffing in the box and, because the kit had a poor design with the LED wiring and my impatience and stupidity, I shorted wires that I wrapped with tape that slipped when putting in the case. My EE brother in law has been troubleshooting it and so far, every single transistor and FET is fine, the Charge Pump IC emits a good square wave, however, the 18V part is under volted. Two pots are split serrated shaft, one is round unsplit, that’s the two tier Pot.

One pot is volume, one is Intesity (the middle) and one is speed, that’s the big pot.

I got brass knobs.

There are also two toggle switches, one is for a buffer circuit I think (I don’t fully understand its purpose yet) and the other is for switching between Uni and another chorus mode, I use it mostly in Uni. I’ve dimed the intensity, set the volume to 7, and I play with the rate.

I still have to play with the trim pots inside, but I need to get to know the pedal more first.

I’m so dumb nowadays. When I swapped the jacks placements, I didn’t think to swap the grounds, all ground is the same and know that (there can be different commons, of course). and then the leads wouldn’t be so short and it would have been easier, and in the back of my head I knew this. But I didn’t want to do any more soldering on the pedal!

But I’m so dumb now. I used to always think of such things, even before others would, it doesn’t take genius, but it does take using one’s head for something besides a hat rack.

It takes time, when I was building my last project, I had to refresh my self on things constantly. IT also took me a while to get used to using multsim again.

I am very rusty when it comes to electronics now. I used to have the resistor colors and stuff memorized. Now I have to look it up to what type of resistance that the resistor has.

That project took me too many tries to get it working correctly. It was an old Chrysler instrument cluster that required some resistors to be changed out due to overheating.

I ended up taking a few times, but I got it working and the tack and mileage showed up again.

I use acrosstics to remember stuff. For the circle of fifths, it is For Christians, God Doesn’t Always Enter Basements etcetera. FCGDAEB
