Edit YouTube Comments?

Is there anyway to do it? I found instructions, but they don’t work. Edit isn’t in the menu. Why doesn’t YouTube want us to edit comments?

Apparently they keep the original comment somewhere when you edit it.

The 3 dots, EDIT, same as how you delete. I see my edits when I do it.

You have to go to the comment itself to edit red arrow, you can delete from and edit from the comment location, on your youtube comments page you can only delete.

I have never seen that page before. I edit right at the video. Three dots -> Edit or Delete.

Is there a way to access that in the Mobile version of YouTube? I can only do it in the desktop version.

Donoreo Do you have a YouTube channel? Maybe that’s why it works the way it does for you? I don’t have a YouTube channel.

Edit: I do have a channel. I just don’t use it.

Heat84 If you have a Google account and are logged into YT, that should be enough. Technically you “have” a YT channel if you do. I do not think you can even leave comments without being logged in.

It looks like every YouTube user automatically gets a channel. I don’t use mine, so I thought you had to sign up for a channel separately or activate it in your account. But I saw that I had one when I went into my account.

But I can get just switch my browser to mobile mode once I’m in and access the mobile version that way.

Guy54435 But I haven’t solved my bigger problem. Maybe I’ll contact YouTube and ask them. But they’ll probably just tell me to check their help files.

I happened to post a comment on YouTube while I was on my PC yesterday and I remembered this and and checked the menu, and Edit was there! Just now I posted another YouTube comment on my phone and I checked again but no Edit. I tried putting the browser(IceRaven) in Desktop mode. Edit is there but it doesn’t work. Nothing happens when you press Edit. I tried another browser(Brave) and it behaves the same way. No Edit in mobile mode, yes Edit in Desktop mode but it doesn’t work. I tried regular FireFox too. Same thing. Why would this be happening? I don’t remember if Edit worked when I was on the PC.

I just tried on my Android in the Youtube app, edit is there when I click the 3 dots. I know I said that before, but wanted to mention it may be your account? I know there are a lot of Google things I cannot do, or have to wait a long time for because I have one of the grandfathered free Google Apps / Google Workspace accounts. For example, I cannot review apps in the app store, no option for me to leave one (in the phone app or on the web).

Donoreo I haven’t used the YouTube app. I was wondering if Edit was working in there. I expected it would.

Heat84 Generally on a phone you want to use the Apps as often the mobile websites suck. I thought you had been using the app when you were talking about the phone. I just tried in mobile web and I do not even see comments.

Donoreo I prefer to use the website so I don’t clutter my phone up with apps.
