Take bolts out that are green and perhaps the yellow ones, hard to see. The red arrows go together taking out the green bolts and perhaps a couple hidden that i cant see allow you to pull the idler pulley housing off, that is the part you need, like I said probably get it from junkyard. Maybe a belt also, The pulley under the red arrow area is the tensioner 3/8ths or ½″ ratchet or breaker bar moves that. Hopefully nothing else is damaged but from what I can see it does not appear that there is other damage. Not that hard to do just take picture first. From the looks of it the hardest part will be fishing belt down through. Also looks to be bolt coming from backside under hose.

Augh, thought i ordered the right thing, but the motor mount(s) and the tensioner bit are fine. But i didn’t know what the hell that broken bit is called to look it up.

And right now, it looks like it might be a dealer only part. 😭

codezer0 Idler pulley (housing Bracket?) is the broken piece. Go to a pull apart place it will be much cheaper.

I can’t recall the URL any more, but some time ago I found some web sites that would search junkyards for parts – this item shouldn’t be too big and too heavy, so shipping would be reasonable.

If it’s available new from a 3rd party, than there’s a better than 99% chance that rockauto will have it. Conversely, if you can’t find it on rockauto, chances are good that you won’t find it in any other auto parts store.

There is a small chance that you may be able to find it on eBay, craigslist, or facebook marketplace, but don’t spend too much time on them. Just go to the dealer if you come up empty handed elsewhere.

Guy54435 Just tried that, and what few Hondas i could fined, the whole engine was taken out. With no engine, no bracket.

codezer0 Well since you know what it is called buy new or call yards and see (long shot) if they have it already off, or craigslist or facebook market place, Should not be too hard to find used if you live in an area with a large population.

I’m gonna guess you have V6, which makes engine compartment much more tighter to work in.

Idler pulley on my I4 chirps lately when it’s very humid outdoors. You’ve just discouraged me from doing this job. 😃

That upper-red arrow seems to point at a broken threaded hole. If that is where the idler was originally screwed into, it may not sit properly. The entire bracket may need to be replaced.

Possible – I didn’t need any used parts lately.

But I’m thinking about replacing the E4OD in my Bronco with a ZF5 if I can obtain one, and the only realistic sources for that are junkyards or private sellers.

Is its an Accord? Doesn’t look quite like a civic. You might have to put blocking under the engine and lift it up so you can then take off the side engine mount. WIth it clear you will have a bit more room to tackle the tensioner.

Good, it does have a timing change so as long as the tensioner didn’t smash anything else he should be ok. The fan site for that generation is still up and running: https://www.8thcivic.com/ loads of info there.

Find the part number do a cross reference see if it is on another vehicle as well.
