Lexmark’s firmware will recode the chip on the old toner and declare them “incompatible”. The only way to make it work is either get a new toner or you can go on E-Bay and get a new blank chip and put it on the toner cartridge. I ended up doing the latter since it was almost 80% full in addition to getting a new one from them.
This printer automatically churns the toner once in a while so settling is not an issue.
