Severence - Season 2

Anyone watching? I'm debating whether or not to re-watch season 1 or just jump into Season 2 but that would depend on whether anyone else here thinks that's necessary for a refresh? I remember some of the bigger events but not so much the overall story.

Ha! I just posted in another thread about this. I didn't watch season one three years ago and just finished it before starting season two. If I had watched it three years ago, I'd have forgotten it by now. You'll probably want to rewatch, unless you think the 30 second recap will fill in for you hahaha.

I don't think a rewatch is necessary, but I need some answers ASAP. This first episode of season 2 rocked, but I pray the momentum continues.

Effing Silo was so boring most of the season and only got decent with the finale.

I wish I could link to some of these clips but it turns out there's a pile of plot threads that aren't so obvious to the casual viewer and there are plenty of easter eggs to catch at the start of the show that led to some of the plot developments later in the show, and may also foreshadow events that have yet to come.

I wasn't really paying attention to the interactions they were having with the computers but it turns out what's on screen is meaningful for interpreting aspects of the story

I watched the first episode of season 2 but got the distinct feeling I should go back and rewatch season 1 or at least the last few episodes. I remember season 1 but it still seemed as if there was a disconnect

I really enjoyed the last two episodes (4 and 5). Such a good show. I love the soundtrack too. So much so that I think I want try to play it on the piano.

How about what’s going on with Mark. I think his innie and outtie are going to swap or some kind of mesh together. Then Irving and Burt’s outtie’s meeting. Helly’s story is really interesting. I still wonder what exactly macro data refinement is doing and what kind of legacy Lumon is trying to impose on the world.

I have nothing to go on and no specific insight but my offhand guess would be

The human mind can’t actually read while dreaming. Presumably this is due to the part of the brain needed for such a task being dormant during REM sleep. Some people swear they can read while dreaming but this is likely the brain giving the appearance that it is so. This is what I think of every time I see the data refinement team working on their computers. Even they don’t know what they are doing and they have no waking understanding of what is on their screen,….. only a feeling. It also reminds me of brain surgery where some poking around is necessary in order to understand if they are in the right area.

So in other words, it seems to me like the Innies of data refinement are mapping human brains. More specifically their own brain.
