I just don’t think the core of this team has the killer instinct to win it. Matthews, Marner, absolute no-shows. Willy can’t be expected to be carrying them every night in these playoffs.
Think about it, they nearly blew 3-0 series lead to the Sens. It took a 3rd period goal from a guy who was on a PTO prior to the season and was injured for half the season (Pacioretty).
In the first two games the Panthers were napping, Goalie Bob was in some sort of trance that he woke up from in the 3rd period of Game 3. Since then he’s been lights out.
Even if they somehow survive to game 7, then lose that, I just don’t know how you even offer Marner & Tavares a contract, even though JT had a great season and a pretty good playoff until now. Just sign some new players. This experiment is expired.
