DVDs from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment manufactured between 2006 and 2008 have been experiencing issues with “DVD rot,” and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) is now offering to replace any defective discs:

Came across the story on Ars Technica last night and have been looking at my collection. So far it seems like I am OK, if there are some that aren’t I am sure the company will not give a fig. What could be the key is that Canada is officially bilingual so the discs needed french dubbing and subtitles which meant that production would outsourced to a different factory.

EDIT: If anyone has the Lenticular, 2 disc version of “V for Vendetta” with disc rot can you post details about it, I have a copy but its still factory sealed. Disc box seal is readable as {V FOR VENDETTA (TWO DISC SPECIAL EDITION) UPC:012569832356 DVE 083235}

Signs of disc rot
On CDs, the rot becomes visually noticeable in two ways:

When the CD is held up to a strong light, light shines through several pin-prick-sized holes.

Discoloration of the disc, which looks like a coffee stain on the disc. See also CD bronzing.
