it is beneficial to recipients
without it, Monday's volumes would be significantly higher -- maybe not 2x, but at least 1.5x
they deliver packages and other material on Sunday anyhow
#3 is based on regularly seeing USPS vehicles on Sundays.
What volumes ??
There is barely any mail except for junk mail.
That's true for my family, and also true for my business.
USPS does deliver Express Mail (now called Priority Mail Express) 7 days a week/
They also deliver some packages 6 or 7 days a week.
But packages are often separate from the regular delivery people, and Express Mail is always separate.
At my home, we usually only check the mailbox about twice a week anyway especially in the winter.
Newer housing has Cluster Boxes which are often NOT that close to the home, so again, people ain't rushing out to check it every day.
At my Business, which is in an office building, neither myself nor any of the other tenants get much mail anymore. Packages do come but that might be from a variety of carriers, not just USPS.
And most of the businesses are closed on Saturday...
Actually, I'm pretty sure that the mail carrier does not come every day anyway even during the week
Everybody is pretty sure that Louis DeJoy doesn't get that preoccupied with little details like that.
That the system works even relatively well much of the time, is like "DeJoy Luck Club".
