urbanriot urbanriot They price them the same as the Canadian grown hothouse tomatoes so you are actually being ripped off, they also will charge the same if they came from Mexico as well so whatever the price difference is the store/chain/corporate is keeping it.
If the beefsteak are US or Mexican one week, the vine tomatoes will often be Canadian that week, and it switches back and forth so rarely are you forced to purchase a non-canadian product. While US and Mexican tomatoes are fine to eat (this is a veg/fruit that can be washed and scrubbed to remove external contaminants), I prefer the canadian ones since
a greenhouse operation uses fewer if any pesticides.
Compared to tomatoes of the past these species of beefsteak and vine are very tasty. In the past they would look good but have a horrible taste.
