SPAM increase starting yesterday (01/20/2025)

On multiple VoIP phone numbers that I have, there has been an increase in Spam calls since mid-day January 20th.

It is not huge, but I don't think it's my imagination.

Almost as if the spammers know that the FCC and FTC will have new management.

EDIT: This is NOT meant to be political, let's not go there. 🙂

Unless the new management undoes all the existing orders and regulations they've instituted then the change of management doesn't impact anything that's already in place.

While I agree with your assessment of the new "management" I have not noticed any large surge of scam/spam. It comes and goes in waves, some numbers get targeted more at times. What I noticed though was an increase of spoofing of numbers of reputable providers, something what I found occurred rarely for a couple of years. One little cutie scammers came up lately is to prepend 1, so suddenly I started getting calls from 1000 number blocks blocked. So I had to block everything starting with 1. :

...my spam folder in my AT&T email account rarely has anything in it at all; and when there is, it is most frequently "not spam". But a week or so ago, I started to notice a significant increase in the daily spam messages.

No SPAM on my Callcentric number, but tons of SPAM calls this month on my T-Mobile cell number.
