I broke the phone's screen cable trying to work on it, but it turns out a Google update a few years back bricked many phones, including my 4a5g. I know I couldn't make a claim, but if I hadn't broken it, had I known, could I have put in for a replacement?
It seems this happened again a few months back with another update.
