I sympathize very much with the issues raised, but because this thing had pretty much zero mathematical chance of any significant impact, it just makes the organizers look foolish.
Later on things may change, if matters get much worse or much crazier.
For example, if there is a Jacquerie due to way crazy inflation, interruption or loss of important government services (weather forecasting, mail, social security, etc), general depression due to trade wars, cross-border attacks by pissed-off Canadian beavers---then it would be different.
