Finish one project - cause another!

Last month a lot of rain. 4-5 trees came down on lot behind me. Kinda warm this past week.

Day 1: Cut off small branches from trees laying on ground, leaving the major pieces intact. (2 trees that broke in half still have tops angled against trunk at odd angles. No interest in these - far enough onto his lot that I don’t care)
Day 2. Toss yesterdays branches down the hill behind our house.
Day 3. Burn existing stuff from our lot already in fire pit. And as much of stuff from lot above, behind our house… Until we’re done for day.
Day 4 (today) dump cart behind riding mower.
Chain saw main parts of trees on ground, put in cart, haul downhill to fire wood rack by our fire pit. Move couple loads of branches from behind house to fire pit ₅₀% done.
With exception on remaining small branches behind house, heavy stuff done!
As putting cart/mower away I see one cart tire went low pressure and tire jumped the rim. I don’t reseat tires - and it damaged inner tube too.
Tomorrow visit the tire place. (They do mower/cart tires too!). Darn!

If you have a inner tube they are easy to work with, tubeless is a bear.

Though I did find a trick that will seat the beads of a tubeless, spray starting fluid into the tire and toss a stick match at the rim, makes a heck of a sound nut the beads will be seated and ready in inflate.

It also works with full sized vehicle tires just a bit more noise and they tend to jump a couple feet in the air as the lower bead is seated.

Just returned from Tractor Supply.
Tire place indicated that if wheel was steel they’d do it, but wheel is plastic, so it’s a good chance it would break during getting the tire bead back inside of the wheel. He suggested purchasing new wheel/tire at Tractor Supply. $39 later same diameter tire, and axel/bearing length, steel wheel, with grease fitting.

I had that with a yard tractor tire, the bolts where so rusted I couldn't split it to put on a new tire/tube, HF had new wheels ready to go just add air,, for less than a tire and tube.

Half Hour after new wheel…. It’s hauling bags of mulch to a flower garden. Timing is everything!
As long as I have work clothes on: got the grappling hook out and retrieved all branches stuck to side of hill behind house, and retrieved winter’s branches from the pond.

How do you grab branches with a grappling hook?

I have borrowed a grappling bucket for my Bobcat that allow me to plow into a pile of anything hydraulically lower (the I guess they are called grapples) and pick up all types of loose stuff that I can pile elsewhere to burn later or just drop into the incinerator while it is burning with out getting my self singed.

The problem is I don't own the bucket and they are crazy expensive even for a used one, heck I couldn't even afford a Bobcat if the one here had not been abandoned on my property and the owner refused to pick it up claiming it had already been picked up, yet I can see and touch it so I truly think it has never been picked up.

Someone thinks it has but not I.

These were cut branches tossed down hill from lot above last week. Some didn’t make it all the way down the hill. Hill too steep to climb.
IT’s USE-Simple! Toss it out past item you wish to retrieve. And then pull grappling hook back across it! Same use to retrieve branches from pond. Toss past, pull back across.
I’d say each toss an 80% or more success rate. Made it out of old rope & a couple metal/wire coat hangers slated for, but saved from, the garbage dump years ago!

You could've tried reseating the tire like truck drivers do with either/starter fluid and a blow torch. Well, any flame will do to ignite the either/starter fluid:

According to one of the video comments, the guy in the video used more either/starter fluid than he needed to.

Plastic hub.

Found dry rot and cracks on one of two tires on dump cart that connects to mower. Other is fine! Another trip to Tractor Supply. $29 for complete replacement. Dump Cart & Riding mower fine.

Wagon that started this is about 18 years old and now has all 4 replacement metal wheels/tires.

Dump cart & Riding mower both 9 years old, so far mower is fine, Dump cart has 1 of 2 replaced.

Cars are fine. Think I’m done with wheels/tires this year! Gave all another workout retrieving downed branches and taking to fire pit.

Heat84 I have done that in the past, every time I did it I swore if it worked I wouldn't do it again because of the danger, thankfully I was never injured and those days are behind me.
