No, I almost feel like Disney hates good Star Wars and their fans.

And I agree with you. I remember watching the original Star Wars' movies at the drive in and it was amazing.

Yeah, I still have VHS tapes of the original trilogy but they're fading....

For the original movie (now called Episode 4) the original ending was better than the fixup.

But really for both franchises (Star Wars and Star Trek) it's enough already---like the never-ending Fast and Furious, or Planet of the Apes---geez, enough.

px_eliezer_ I have that last boxed set of the originals and watched them 1000 times. I didn't realize I hadn't even seen the revamped versions until I bought them on blu-ray and gave them a watch. I'll never understand it; those changes made the movies objectively worse.

Anyway I watched those VHSs so many times I had even the previews and Lucas's interview with Leonard Maltin pretty much memorized. In those materials they kept saying to "enjoy the movies in their original theatrical cut one last time". They weren't kidding, that was decades ago and there has never been another theatrical cut release that I'm aware of.

A great memorial to the late great Leigh Brackett, regardless of the exact percentage of her words which went into the final script after she passed away.

And a true pioneer as a woman, in science fiction and in Hollywood.
