Having to come up with 26 episodes a season meant some real stinker episodes of great shows; I'm thinking of the Star Trek: Voyager episode where Janeway and Tom Paris somehow devolved into catfish....
I didn't mind that episode but I see your point. At the same time, shorter seasons have stinkers too.
On the flip side, Stargate SG-1 had 22 episodes per season and I enjoyed every episode.

On the other extreme, dumping 6-10 episodes on a random day isn't the best either. People tend to binge them at different rates. You kind of lose the 'watercooler talk' aspect of shows.
Oooh good point, that's true. Yea, you go to work to talk about a show and it's like, "OH don't say anything, I'm only on the second episode!" and then the person walks away lol.
Perhaps the sweet spot is what Burn Notice did, 16 - 18 episodes per season. Every episode was fun, you had your bottle episode content and then you had your overarching seasonal plot, and you just needed a quick refresher in between seasons for all the stuff you forgot. Because only a few minutes were spent on the big plot per season, you only needed a small refresher on the weekly episodes and because the conclusion of the 'big' story was in the last episode of the last season, you remembered most of the details.
Also, it took 2+ years for them to begin filming Andor Season 2 from Andor Season 2, that's another aspect of what they need to fix.
