Pedal not fully working

It's diagnosis time. I built the Angel's Univibe Pedal Kit by Jeds peds in the UK. Sadly, while almost everything works, signal is not getting to my amp. Tomorrow I'll try and trace it down, but I don't have a scope, so I might have to look at it at my brother in law's. It's a very complex pedal circuit.

I had to stop, I can't disturb my neighbors any more than I have. There are something like 100 components

I remember this. This is the one with the LDR.

How do you know it's working if you don't have an output? This is a PCB and you put on the parts? Usually. wrong part placement or solder bridge or not soldered.

Just found the Univibe on the net. The other thing is are the discrete wire connections correct?

It's working! I made a rookie mistake, it's too dumb to even admit to. The pedal kicks ass. The original sells for like 5 grand, the cheap Chinese SMD pedals sell for more than this cost to build, and this is pretty much like the original without the treadle.

I'm just at the test phase of the wiring, I still need to wire it to the footswitch and pack up things, but due to lack of sleep, that will probably be tomorrow.

Now I need to get the stuff to do silk screen and artwork. There are 2 other kits I want to build. I want to build a Leslie and a synth. And my friend is going to pick out a kit to make for him too.

My rookie mistake was I had too much bare end on 2 of my temp wires and they touched on the underside, oh doh.

Well, I did blow it. I used electrical tape which slid and caused a short because I was in too much of an anxious hurrty to get it done. I was planning on heat shrink and if I had done so, it would be done and running well.

My brother in law has stuff I don't have, a scope, eyeloupe, frequency generator. He's better at this than I am and I never did electronics after college, so I'm deferring to him to guide me in fixing whatever short happened. I had to learn a lesson, I need to be more anal like I used to be. I was a perfectionist for years, but in old age I'm impatient.

Hopefully its just one diode or transistor. It's a good learning experience. I did so well until I got stupid.

That's me, the ex smart guy who couldn't do wrong but now is old and dumb. Brain trauma, repeated events.

UPDATE:

The Pedal is now working, there is a thread in the electronics forum about it.

Brother in law confirmed 2 suspicions I had and also replaced 3 components with 3 better ones.

Man, the pedal sounds incredible. I’ll post an audio clip one day on that and other pedals, but I’m a little rusty with my playing of late. I have good excuses, one is my health problems. Another is hand problems. Another is depression on and off.
