For the people who have MidSplit - What type of equipment do you use? What modem and router do you use?

Plan: Comcast Xfinity "Connect" 150/100 Mbps (mid-split)
Current Modem: XB8 (Technicolor CGM4981COM)
Previous Modem: Hitron CODA56 (refurbished, bought recently on Amazon.com USA). Returned back to Amazon.
Router: Dynalink DL-WRX36 running OpenWrt 24.10.0 with CAKE SQM
WiFi AP: 2x Eero Pro 6 (both in Bridge Mode in Eero App).

I haven't heard any bad reports with the CODA56 even with the PUMA chipset.

I read somewhere (not sure in Reddit or DSLReports or Amazon.com Reviews) that some of these device fail just after the 180 days (6 months) warranty ends. Hence, if I can get XFI Gateway for $0 rental for 12 months, I will try to XFI Gateway and return CODA56, both for my relative's place currently and for my own place in the future.

I think with so many technology changes going on (mid-split, maybe high-split, DOCSIS 4.0 FDX vs ESD etc.) it is better to use the modem provided by ISP if it doesn't cost extra.

Been running a CODA56 for almost 2 years now, no issues at all. Been using it for Xfinity’s 1.2gb plan, and for the last couple months have been using it on their 2gb/200 plan. (It actually gets 360 mbps upload) So if you are concerned it might be underpowered, don’t be.

My only gripe is it’s difficult to get to the modem’s signal status and event logs, but some people may not even need that. Certainly can’t beat the price…

Current plan is Connect More 300/100 Mbps, with Hitron CODA56, on Mid-Split for one year two months. Only had to reboot once since I've owned it, when it lost upload speeds. Otherwise my CODA56 has been rock solid since I've owned it. Still using old Netgear R7000 — Nighthawk AC1900 for my router. My old router just reached it's end of life firmware support updates, from Netgear. Can't complain, never had any issues with this router.

Note: OpenWrt is not well supported on this device due to lack of open source wifi drivers. Consider alternative projects which have support such as DD-WRT or FreshTomato.

CODA56 here. Been stable as hell for a couple years now. I had my doubts when I replaced my S33 with it, but it's been a good modem.

Don't know how much longer I'll be on Comcast though; AT&T is pulling fiber through my neighborhood. But I saw an excuse to post on this forum for the first time so I took it.

I’m using a CODA56 on the 2g/300 plan paired with a tplink AXE300 router. I can get 2400mbps down and 360 up very easily at nearly every time of day (my area is not congested). It’s a solid modem even though it has a puma chipset, my ping is very stable and I basically never have to reboot it. I notice basically no difference in actual performance between it and a broadcom based xb7.

I have the 2G/300 plan, with a Netgear CM 3000 modem. All is working extremely well - correct speeds, and very few of any errors. Signals and SNR are excellent. It’s a good set up!

Donawalt what are you getting for download. I'm going through it now with Comcast. My upload is fine. My download is very inconsistent. One speed test is 800 or 900, another is 1100, tech was here today, got 1300 at his meter with the coax attached to his meter. At that point I feel he should have referred it to OSP. But he wants to come back next week with a different meter that I guess is newer and has a faster Ethernet port on it to see what speeds he gets over Ethernet because over Ethernet he was getting 900 on the meter and he says it's because the port on the meter is a gigabit port, why are these techs using meters with gigabit ports still? They can't even troubleshoot speed issues correctly because they're handicapped by their tools.

Petrone I get 2250-2325 when direct connected to the modem via a GS508M 10G switch. What are your plan speeds? Are you quoting WiFi or direct connect speeds? Direct connect with a iPhone 16 Pro (WiFi 7) I have seen as much as 1400 but usually it's 1100-1300.

Have you checked your wiring? splitters are bad; check cable connections.

What modem are you using? Can you get to its logs, what are your signal levels and SNR for d/l channels? what does the modem log look like, any critical errors? (T3, T4, etc.)

Donawalt Gigabit X2. Hard wired to the modem using a 5gbe adapter as well as testing through the router with the speed test built into the GUI. I'm using the Netgear CM3000. Something is obviously not right, I suspect node saturation but idk. My signals are good, log is good, etc etc. problem isn't in my house or with the modem. Hopefully Comcast can figure it out. If they can't then I'll just switch to frontier fiber.

What cable type for router to modem and computer to router?

If it was saturation I think you would see a lot of US profile assignment change messages in the modem log, do you? Do you see CM-STATUS messages? If so what codes?

What router do you have? I can't go into specifics but it's a wifi7 router with a 2.5gbe wan port.

What cable type for router to modem and computer to router? I primarily run wireless. But the modem connects to the router with a CAT8 Ethernet cable. I don't really wire the PCs unless I need to for troubleshooting.

Without knowing the router type, I probably can’t help too much more. Your reply was unclear, you’re not going to get full multi gigabyte speeds with Wi-Fi. That will only be with direct connections. If you see some specifics in your logs, signals, power levels, logs etc., post here and I’m sure we can help. There’s probably a clue in there somewhere, but you probably need to be specific about what’s going on, your network topology, logs, etc.

The router was ruled out. I've connected directly to the modem with a USB C 5gbe adapter to two different laptops and ran speed tests through Comcast on speedtest.net and speeds basically matched what the router was getting for speed.

Whatever the issue, it's on Comcast's end and I will hopefully know more next week.

For clarification I can't disclose router specs, because it's an unreleased piece of equipment and I'm bound by an NDA.
