Highlander........2027

ZZZZZZZ

Watched some trailers and this looks really good…..also did a search and couldn’t find any other thread.

You know, with all the sequels to decades-old movies, reboots, and remakes, it’s crazy there aren’t more Highlander films. The lore could lend itself to all kinds of stories and time periods, it would be really easy to make good, quality movies and tv shows in this universe without having to glom on to previous iterations.

Of course they’d have to re-cast Connor and Duncan if they wanted the McLeods in there.

With how much of a flop the Raven TV show was, I’m less surprised there haven’t been reboots.

With as rich a story background as is available, they could easily have returned to the well and rebooted with a different highlander. but no. 🙁 There were so many interesting characters in the TV show, many of whom were still alive at the end of the series… even if they didn’t want to come up with a whole new immortal, they could at least have picked one of them.

TheBionic

That was such a good series, I honestly liked the show more than the Chris Lambert movies (although I have a soft spot for the movies too). And I loved the Highlander references and jokes in the latest Masters of the Universe movie, particularly when they played Princes of the Universe by Queen after referencing Highlander earlier in the film. The fact that they put that in there despite the fact that few people under 35 would even get the reference makes me like it even more!

Highlander 2 pretty much destroyed the Hollywood avenue. I remember when it came out and I saw it at the cinema and was thinking, “what in the f#*K is this!?” Within minutes I was… offended… at how little they thought of the fans of the original Highlander that they made such a terrible movie that was a bad B-movie at best.

I enjoyed the TV show, it was pretty good for the time and I’m equally surprised we haven’t seen a rehash or reboot of it in some fashion.

I will watch this. I really like Henry Cavill, and think he’s a great actor.

When I saw the title of the post I thought it should be under the Automotive section.

Donoreo

No one has yet said there can be only one? Really? 🙂

I was waiting for it after I said why haven’t they made more lol. It was right there!

Any remake that fails to include gratuitous backlips should be considered a failure.

TheBionic

That is hilarious lol.

Whenever I think of the original Highlander, that parking garage fight is the first thing that comes to mind.

Ironically for me it’s the fight between Kurgan vs. Ramirez. Kurgan looked so formidable with untapped endurance, I couldn’t help but wonder how anyone else could defeat him, how could Ramirez defeat him? Oh, shit, Ramirez couldn’t defeat him… That scene was sealed in my memory banks.
