It’s the weekend! Summer is still hanging around. My Phillies just ended their season by losing the wildcard playoff. Hockey has started and basketball is coming up soon. Not to mention my NFL Eagles, which is already going into Week 3.

That’s a nice way to put it. I always watch the Eagles game, but mute the sound and listen to Mike and Merrill on WIP (FM radio). They were doing their best to keep a positive attitude. It lessened the pain, but I now have an entire week to listen to everyone’s opinion of the game.

The Flyers are in worse shape. On the plus side, the Sixers preseason starts Monday.

GeekGirl1 It was nice being off yesterday from work. Currently dealing with a China eBay seller who claimed a 100 meg usb3 network adapter was 1000 meg. It was the Realtek 8152 chipset, limited to 100 meg. I’m expecting that they wont bother with the return shipping label due to the cost and eBay will just refund it.

EDIT: Update, I was refunded without having to ship anything back. I ordered a replacement [2.5 gig version] from a US based seller for not much more money.

Yeah, someone must have flipped the “Summer” switch back on! 🙂

Well, someone definitely flipped that switch off here now - it was down to 43 degrees F. this morning here in NJ! 😲

As it got down to 67 degs in the house, I finally had to relent and turn the furnace on this morning for the first time this season. ☹

If you were born before 1957
People born before 1957 are presumed to be immune because back then, measles was so common, just about everyone got it in childhood, says Dr. Larry Kociolek, a pediatric infectious disease specialist at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and an associate professor of pediatrics at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine.

“It was thought that pretty much everyone in the U.S. was infected with measles as sort of a rite of passage in childhood,” Kocielek says. He says anyone who’s ever had measles can be confident they’re protected.

If you were vaccinated before 1968
People who were born after 1957 and vaccinated before 1968 may need an additional dose. That’s because a small group of people who were immunized during that time received an early, less effective version of the vaccine that used inactivated or killed virus.

If you’re not sure which vaccine you got, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends talking to your doctor about getting one or two doses of the MMR vaccine.

I had it. My wife doesn’t remember but she grew up in Ireland and I assume they got hit with it.

We’ve been out to Lancaster a couple of times in the last 2 weeks, so we’re testing the virus.

That was me. I asked my primary about it and convinced him to refer me to the lab for a blood test which determined I had no measles immunity. I got the shots and peace of mind.

I’m sure I got it as a child before 1968. I’ll have to check my military records for later immunization, but given their thoroughness in boot camp it is very likely.
