At home I have a little Dell Optiplex 5070 running proxmox with a VM for Opnsense and a PCI-E 4 port NIC passthrough to it. Then I have a few LXC containers for things like Smokeping, Grafana, InfluxDB, Prometheus., Unifi Controller. Its all set to auto boot in the correct timed order and its a single package. BIOS is set to auto power on after power fail and I have GRUB start proxmox in 1 second for quick bootup. I also have a power script installed to keep the power usage low (Electric costs a bit these days).
Grafana and Smokeping monitor my cable internet and a few other things.
Example:
If you have a small machine running proxmox, some of this stuff is super easy to install with TTEK’s helper scripts. Just search for smokeping or grafana or many other popular home server type stuff.

At work I use cacti and monitor all firewall and switchport interfaces.
