ugly95 Sounds like you got out of a meeting, so I’d call that a big win.
Hah! In my younger years it would have been but these days these meetings are important. I was annoyed more than anything. If the alerts were tangible I might have felt differently but it seemed like a lot ado about nothing.
ugly95 It certainly would be better if they handled it better and could localize it to more than just ‘your calling area’ for blasting emergency alerts over the phone.
In our case the warning was actually directed to the correct location, my grievance is more about blasting alarms that cause hysterics for situations that don’t require them.
I don’t have the phone alerts available since I removed the emergency alert functionality but reviewing yesterday’s alerts for St. Catharines - Grimsby - Northern Niagara there was initially an “orange severe thunderstorm watch”, followed by a “red severe thunderstorm watch”, followed by an “extremely dangerous” storm line with high winds, and that was basically the end of it.
In retrospect it’s possible that you’re right, maybe we did receive a phone alarm for outside my area but I can’t imagine a number of people left our meeting site for an alert for another area.
