What Avowed lacks in gloss it makes up for with charm, depth and a playful heart. It's one of this year's most pleasant surprises.

Seems pretty solid, and it's set in the Pillars of Eternity world.

I do plan on getting and playing this at some point because I love the Pillars world and universe but I am in no rush. Also helps that my PC is getting a little old.

I think I'll wait on this one as well, but I know I'll end up playing it. I am bound and determined to finish Silent Hill 2 before I start another game

For anyone that's interested this is also on Game Pass, I'm daily driving Linux so stuff outside of Steam/GOG is a bit more of a hassle for me, but a lot of people have GamePass so this might be worth checking out.

ElQuintron Ugh every time I sign back up for Game Pass for a single game I forget to cancel it for a year. It ends up being a very expensive game lol

It being on GamePass basically ensures I'll at least give it a try. If anyone actually plays it before me lemme know how it is. My only major concern is that the combat looks like it kind of lacks impact but maybe it actually feels different to play.

I have not played this yet, so take it with a grain of salt, but I will at some point, reviews by Eurogamer and other credible sources are saying the combat is one of the highlights (it doesn't look that way from the video) So I'm curious about that part.

Right? Like it doesn't look Oblivion level bad, where everything is spongy and you are whapping them with a sword themed pool noodle, but it doesn't look far off. Maybe Skyrim tier? That is vaguely what I remember melee weapons feeling like in Outer Worlds.

So I did a quick run on the intro with this and I like it, it's on the simpler side, but they seem to know what they're working with/trying to do and it's pretty fun.

I've played some Pillars years ago, so I'm familiar with the universe, I think this looks good, combat (at least tutorial combat) was fun. It's no tactical or kinetic achievement, but it's entirely serviceable. I'll probably grab this after I'm done with Metaphor and P5

I downloaded this on gamepass over the weekend. From the reviews I have seen I got an overall impression of ‘meh’, but honestly I really got into it. It borrows a lot from the Elder Scrolls games, the world and lore seem deep, and it’s a pretty good ‘Scrolls-like’. Did I just coin a phrase? 😃

Anyway I put probably 12 hours in over the weekend and when I wasn’t playing it I was thinking about playing it, which is a good sign. There are some UI issues I’m not crazy about, and I’d have done the map differently, but it’s overall a really good game IMO.

I think so, it’s also using the pretty well-loved Pillars universe, which helps smooth over some of the rough edges I think.
