Download the software from Folding@Home here.
Set your Identity to match your username.
Enter Team number 4

You can see the team stats at DSL Reports Team Helix.

If anyone needs help, start a new discussion and we'll get you going.

I think I started out a long time ago with the folding projects from DSLR, but somewhere along the way, I ended up running BOINC on my Macs for cancel research. I guess that’s different?

Several years ago, I was running folding@home on BOINC. At some point, it transitioned to a dedicated folding@home app. They're not compatible.

I've been running both clients, Folding@Home and BOINC, for many years. Like over 15. Lol.

My Folding@Home account (Frosty_808739) is still on Team 4. I changed the name to match my new BBB profile.

The BOINC team: https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTeamInfo.do?teamId=G5XMSGSVR1 is still crunching data. Yet still references the defunct DSLReports link: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/disco. Not sure if the captain of that team, suprleg, is still managing. I sent the user a message thru the BOINC team portal.

DSLR has been my homepage for over 20 years.. Still in shock it's probably gone for good. BBB is now my homepage.

Shouldn't the name be changed to Broadband Bulletin Team Helix or would this cause problems with the other team donors?

broknsymetry Nice idea, but I think it would cause too much consternation with the "other" donors. Cool, we have 1,000 members total. 😎

So I messed up when trying to set this up and forgot to screenshot my passphrase. Since the account is too new, does anyone know how long it will take before I can do the link to reset my passphrase.

I should have made it on my own but I let the software make it. I hit the register too fast because I realized that I have no idea what it used.

I have two Mac studios that I am going to set this up on and can't do that until I am able to reset the passphrase. Otherwise this will have gone seamlessly. The software likes to open its links in Safari but then I just copy the link into Firefox.

I have joined. Before I joined DSL reports in 2001, I used to have SETI setup on my computer. However, that was a long time ago and I would have to create a new account. However, I set up this one instead and joined the team.

Rich221976 - I was on SETI as well. I switched to Team Helix sometime after it became apparent that turning the Arecibo dish into a birds nest made the project less significant.

Also, I knew someone with Parkinsons and Team Helix became my main focus.

similar situation. was with team starfire, only joined team helix when we were having crunch-athons trying to beat team anantech. i think they eventually won the war, and with the whole BOINC client paired with life changes, i fell off. came back around 2010 strong when mom was sick, and again about 10 years later. I seem to be one of those friends that come around when i need something, because now i’m here after seeing the demise of the entire domain of dslreports. that used to be my little zen / homecoming place online. Nice to see some familiar names in here tho! Lets keep this team rollin strong 🙂

as of i think it was last week or maybe 2 weeks ago, i saw 24 active user accounts on extremeoverclocking.com. This week,16. am i reading that right? noncompasmantis, perterbance, edmcgrath, sammisimonzuki all are at zero for the week, and noncompassmantis is ranked 3rd in the team!

yikes, are people falling off quicker than before? i hope it’s just that they havent yet completed any wu’s for the period.

not quite sure how to go about recruiting now though… or if it’s just a slow drawdown till anyone interested folds for the foldinator?

speaking of which, how would one go about doing that? we dont need any password or anything, do we?

I am afraid you are right. Seems like the “glue” of DSLReports Team Helix is wearing off, and this site and Discord can only help a little. Short of placing an ad on Google 🙂 I don’t know how to get publicity to attract members back. [No, I’m not gonna pay for a Google ad. 🙂]

jjprevost I think that since DSLReports shut down, a lot of people just don’t know that we are here and on Discord, with no way to contact them, they won’t be able to join us here. I lucked out and saw a message one of the few times I was able to actually get on DSLReports and view messages so found my way here. Life is also slowing down my time surfing but still crunching away for Team Helix.

Good point. The Team Statistics shows us we’re ranked at 72. It used to be 57. That’s quite a drop.
