I thought cable card support did end. They were just allowing people to use them until an account change, etc? I use an HD Homerun as well and it does work well with Plex. The issue is, ATSC 3.0 wont allow HD Homeruns to work due to DRM. Now we are waiting to see if the FCC changes the rules. They were asked to rule on the validity of the broadcasters using DRM. They were also set to rule on the simulcast rule, as broadcasters have to keep a ATSC 1.0 broadcast going even if they have a 3.0 broadcast.

Donut417 My understanding is that you can’t get new Cable Card service. Whether they will replace an existing cable card that fails is unclear. I have two HDHR3-CC boxes with working cable cards, so a failed cable card is not a concern. About three years ago Comcast had me replace my old STB because of network changes and suggested that I was going to need to replace my HDHomeRun boxes. I thought at the time, that they were getting ready for Mid-Split, but no further communication since that time, and no indication of a Mid-Split or FDX upgrade in this area.

I dumped Comcast the same day that GoNetSpeed was installed. Heck there is no way I’m paying for two services at once.

Yet here you are doing exactly that because you went back to Comcast for video service. You’ve done this more than once.

I have five days remaining on my current $50, 1 year 1000/100 plan. Via Reddit, I tried again for new customer pricing I was offered a 5 year, $105 1000/100 plan minus $10 for autopay. This $95 for 5 years is the exact same offer I’ve received the three other times I’ve tried (reddit, store, chat) so they’re consistent at least?

Anywho, no love for a new promo. I’ll wait until the 28th when my new $100 1000/100 goes into effect (the dashboard already shows it’s coming) and see if they’ll bite once the current promo officially ends.

swilliams Sometimes they automatically apply a loyalty discount right before the promo ends and Xfinity emails you to let you know. The length is usually for 12 months.
“You’re getting another year of savings” was the subject line or header of the email if I recall. Discounts vary but $20.00-$35.00 was common. Usually not as good as the original promo you had but still better than the rack rate/EDP (Every Day Price)

Also, one thing I have noticed is how well AT&T handles retention offers for customers who contact customer service compared to Comcast. Used to be close/even but Comcast has gotten more stingy with promotions for existing customers in recent years. Internet service gets the best promos on the AT&T side. Idk about Home Phone or any multi product discounts though. U-Verse TV offers 0 promos these days and has not for years, but that is a dying product (not even compatible with the new Wi-Fi 7 gateway or 25G-PON service anyway) Most customers just want Internet service these days.

swilliams This is part of the reason why I dont think Id go back to post paid. Because even though we only have 100/20, its only $30 a month. Though 1000/100 for $95 isnt bad because we were damn there paying that for 300/40 up til last year when we went to NOW. Id love to have 100 Mbps upload, but Im not sure it will be worth the cost, though Comcast has been dragging ass on upgrades in my area.

What is interesting, and I can sort of understand the logic, but the 2000/250 1 year has been $100 for me all along, which is exactly what new customers get (albeit for 5 years).

We’ll see what happens in a week or so.

heres what i did. you take a picture of the bottom of your cable modem that has the mac address.
go to the store with your significant other.
cancel the service under your name.
sign up with service with significant other’s name as a new customer, they can use the picture to return and reactivate the same modem.
companies dont have any loyalty to their customers, which is why comcast is losing customers like theres no tomorrow, and since they cant learn that customer churn is more harmful than keeping a customer at rates the customer likes, then there should be no loyalty to the company.
