The same could be said of the torrents available today for movies/TV shows.

For people who don’t mind spending a long time hunting down a good quality copy of what they’re looking for, or watching a heavily compressed 720p rip, torrenting is great.

I’d rather just pay $5 and get a great professionally encoded 4K HDR copy with Dolby Atmos directly from the studio that I can stream from anywhere on any of my devices without needing a media server or any of that.

A lot of people don’t need high bandwidth internet, that is absolutely true. But what is also true is that for these people, it is not Cable that is the best option, but rather FWA. And if you want more performance, either in regards to bandwidth, or latency, or reliability, then Fiber is the correct choice. Cable is positioning itself to occupy a middle lane that might not even exist for your typical consumer - not when Fiber is cost competitive.

AT&T was doing door to door sales in my old neighborhood and wanted me to switch to VDSL2 with download speeds of 24 Mbps (later 45 Mbps became available) and cancel my Comcast 100/10 DOCSIS 3.0 service back in 2012.

Why is fixed wireless better than cable?

Comcast has NOW prepaid for $30 which has lower latency and is generally going to be more stable and reliable than wireless.

Also despite what they might say, fixed wireless does have a soft data cap where they’ll throttle your speeds after you use 1TB or more, or during network congestion, if you read the fine print.

AT&T says they’ll throttle you to as slow as 512kbps during congestion.

Because the cable companies have spent decades being greedy and treating customers like shit. Some times its not about the “Best” solution, its about the solution thats good enough so you dont have to deal with certain providers.

If Verizon has 5G home internet in my area Id likely be with them vs on Comcast Now service. Why? Like I just stated they treated us like shit over the years. We hate them as a company and really would leave them if we could. The only reason I didnt go to T Mobile is because I left T Mobile 5 years ago due to poor service as well as multiple data breaches.

With the current market competition you can even find 1gig fiber plans at 30$. Hell if you bundle, AT&T will give you 300/300 fiber for 15$. If you live in a particularly competitive market they’ll even give you 1 gig for 15$ month

Its called voting with your wallet. If more people did it we wouldn’t have the crappy landscape we have now. Its like the people crying about Sony getting rid of physical disks. But thesre are the same idiots that will preorder every game, the ones that made Sony sell out of the PS5 Pro disk drive, ect. If you dont like what a company does then you dont give them money, plain and simple.

Fact: Numerous people in my home town have reported that 5G internet worked fine for them. It all depends on what you do. For basic connectivity/video streaming it works fine. Sure if your doing a lot of competitive gaming, it wont work that great, but not everyone is doing that.

Switching to fixed wireless or Starlink just because you irrationally hate Comcast or Charter seems very silly to me, but enjoy.

You’re sharing that cell tower’s 10Gbps pipe with thousands of other people in most cases.
