For those that want to continue using chan_sip in Asterisk, I found this community-supported chan_sip repository that can be used to add it back into Asterisk. I’ve successfully compiled Asterisk 22.10.1 with this chan_sip.

I converted the extensions.conf macro I was using to use gosub (macro is also deprecated), and I almost got pjsip working. But I ran into problems with mwi subscriptions (that work fine with chan_sip).
I need to have mwi forwarded from my remote asterisk server to my home asterisk server (behind NAT, but connected with wireguard to the remote server). I’ve got the hosts file on my home machine set to point to wireguard, which works fine with chan_sip, but pjsip seems to ignore it. So I suspect it might be a NAT issue with pjsip, though calls were working fine.
