Starting over a year ago, I was converting a 2K TV system here to 4K... TV supported it, but I didn't have it properly set up, but it looked "Good" so I left it alone... I had already calibrated the display with test patters from work....at 2K resolutions...
Eventually determined how to turn on HDR Emulation in Set. Manual indicated only input 4 would do HDR, and it's + emulation... which was referred to as: "Input Signal Plus" so I moved to input 4.... By golly! pix improved!
Fast forward a year, as i learned how each individual device's setting can help video (Or Audio: I'm using a Panasonic Dolby system for sound).... a bit of confusion reigned as manual wasn't keeping up with Firmware.... So I dove back into Google to search for answers.... Which confused things further.... As, Apparently as firmware progressed, on my Set, and other models from same MFG: HDR + Emulation (via Input Signal Plus) was placed on other inputs, not just 4, and furthermore.... at some point - that I missed - this feature was added to ALL Inputs on my set, not just Input 4 as older manual indicated... Suddenly the menu settings changed! Of course that was due to firmware update....
Pix and sound quality now at best..... Though it took some time, firmware updates, and setting changes to get all to their maximum.....
As much as transpired for Video, Audio settings in devices and Dolby receiver was just as confusing....
But after much firmware, Manual updating/reading, and Settings changes, things are good now..... There was no one place to look and learn...... It followed the specific devices and their settings, and how the device that follows interprets those settings....
