Just use Ookla’s Speedtest.net: https://www.speedtest.net/
You’ll probably get similar or same results to what ever Frontier broken page was showing.

https://www.speedtest.net/ still accesses Frontier’s speed test locations. So looks like just Frontier’s page is down for some reason.

Speaking of the latency, I’d always heard how much better that was supposed to be on fiber but it’s always pretty close to what I always got when using Spectrum. Been going to post a topic on that for a while now, but just haven’t.

I think that the 404ed site was just a rebrand of Ookla. I do wonder if Frontier had more control over the server when you used their “speedtest.custom” offering.

I get higher then normal latency when I use Frontier’s servers but the speeds are right around what I pay for. I get better, sometimes far better latency when I use other servers but the speeds don’t match what I pay for. I generally don’t worry about it too much because I get the speeds that I expect.

Latency is generally better to much better with all fiber networks. But cable uses fiber to their office usually, so provided you are near the box and it’s not congested or whatever, I’d expect you’d get decent latency.

With comcast and thier box being right up the street I will experienced up to 10 times the latency as fiber until the last few days. I was getting 4 or 5 ms unloaded to Secaugus.

Speedtests are improving but still all over the place a week later. This is the best one that I’ve gotten, moments earlier the latency was 25.

cork1958 I ended up downloading the Speedtest.net app.. it was saying on the web browser version about 20-40 meg upload. The app had lower latency as well.

AMDUSER Been going to ask if anyone else was seeing those super low upload speeds? Only happens on the 3 chrome based browsers I have installed. Doesn’t ever happen with Firefox.Doesn’t always happen with the Helium browser but does every time with Brave and Edge. Not just speedtest.net either.

I use the speedtest app sometimes, but look at like this, I don’t browser the web with that so why use it? I’d rather test straight from the router in that case.

Do you want to test the throughput of the link to know if your provider has issues or the throughput of the browser to know if it has issues?

Many mistakenly blame their provider for issues caused by other things. I’ve seen too many browsers have issues with speed tests the last few years so I always recommend using the Speedtest.net app now.

That isn’t the issue. Read again, tests are all over the place and no it is not my hardware that hasn’t changed in years.
