My Uncle gave us an old Black and White TV I believe around 1960 and we had rabbit ears for an antenna. We lived about 25 miles north of Indianapolis so the reception was OK but not great… I was still in H.S. and managed to talk my Father into purchasing an Huge Antenna for the top of the Chimney “About 30 Feet” up and also a Rotor and installed it for the family…
That made all the difference in the world!!! I don’t remember when they finally managed to get cable but it was long after I had graduated from college and was working…
The other thing that I used to do was when the TV quit working I would pull the tubes out of it and take them over to the Drugstore in town and test them and replace the bad one…
A couple of other things were Airplanes would mess with the TV signal and we only had if I remember correctly 5 VHF channels and 1 UHF channel back then.
Back in the Good Old Days!!!
