My two years as Catholic H.S. were miserable. I was a Levis and T-shirt kid in a gabardine slacks and button collar shirt school. My friends since first grade all went to the public high school.
I made a few friends there, but there were way too many stuck-up rich kids and purse-mouthed nuns to suit me. The principal finally told my parents that I’d be better off at the public school. Happy day for me!!
The one good thing at parochial was that I had Latin as well as French. It was a good foundation for my language skills. My last two years I had a year of German, two of French and a year of Spanish. German was definitely the hardest.
