I thought I’d try something new for my next SSD. I wanted to get an enclosure which would fit one NVMe memory. I came across this:
UGREEN SSD Enclosure, Tool-Free USB C External, 10Gbps M.2 NVMe to USB Adapter/Reader Supports M and B&M Keys and Size 2230/2242 /2260/2280 SSDs

There are a number of NVMe SSDs that are compatible, among them
Compatible with Lexar NM800 PRO/NM790/NM710/NM620
Of which I bought the NM790.

Put the two together and connect it via USB to my PC (Windows 11) and it does not show up. It knows I have a drive there but does not let me access it at all.
When I plug it in, I get no confirming “beep” and it does not register in Explorer.

If I bring up Device Manager, I can see it under “disk”; showing up as Lexar SSD NM790 4 TB USB Device

Right clicking on it and looking at Properties, I see:

So it looks like it should be there; “this device is working properly”.
Drilling down a little to Policies, I get this

Under Volumes:

If I click on Populate, it fills in some info

It knows it’s a disk with a large capacity, but nothing allocated.
The Driver tab brings up:

If I click on “update driver” it tells me I have the most recent one.
Under the Details tab, I see a Device Description of:

I went to the Property showing “Device instance path” thinking maybe I could try to “go” there from the CMD line.

Nope.
Looked at Physical Device Object Name

But couldn’t figure out what to do with that.

From the task bar, clicking on the little USB icon to Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media it lets me do that:
Clicking on “Eject Ugreen Storage Device leads to the “safely remove…” message.

So what do I do? How do I get Windows to recognize the drive? How do I format it? Is there some other piece of information I can get from Device Manager – Details – Property drop down that I can use to access the drive?

I could really use some advice and help here. I thought it would be straight forward, plug and play, but obviously I was very wrong.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.
